Winding Path
Many of us have great intentions when it comes to spending time alone with God, reading, praying and worshipping. However, to be quite honest, it can sometimes be difficult finding the time in a busy day. If not careful, time can slip away, and the day has been lost to school, extracurricular activities, and entertainment.
One way to continue on a path of seeking God is to have an accountability partner or mentor. An accountability partner is not a counselor or an advisor, but someone that asks questions that will help keep you on track. This can be a peer, parent, or youth leader— but it must be someone that is consistent and bold in asking the hard questions. A mentor, however is someone that you can seek advice and counsel from. It is best to seek someone older that you can trust, that will have experience and wisdom to pull from.
Mentorship and Accountability are things that everyone should have in their lives. Without them, wandering from the plan and destiny that God has for each one of us, is not only likely, it is easy to do. Small steps in the right direction keep us focused on that destiny, but small steps in the other direction can quickly lead us into destruction.
Think back to the last time God got your undivided attention when you were not in church. Was it yesterday? The day before? Maybe a few months ago?
